About Us
turning everyday waste into everyday impact
Hack the Trash was born as a project dedicated to democratizing access to practical, effective ways for families and individuals and companies to reduce their impact. We believe sustainability should be simple, accessible, and empowering, not complicated or exclusive.

Our Story
Our families were born and raised in Brazil, in the southern region of Minas Gerais, in the highlands of the Serra da Mantiqueira. From an early age, we grew up surrounded by nature, immersed in rich landscapes that shaped our respect for the environment and our connection to the land.
In 2015, while living in São Paulo - Brazil, we took our first concrete step toward reducing our family’s environmental footprint. We designed and built our own compost bin and began composting organic waste in our apartment. What started as an experiment quickly became a habit. Along the way, we learned through practice, iteration, and mistakes—and over time, we reduced our household waste by more than 50%.
